School – A necessity?

Earlier, knowledge enrichment in the mass scale could only be dreamt of those who were literate i.e. those who knew how to read and write. 

But today with apps like YouTube, Whatsapp and Facebook, the mass illiterate too are being enriched with knowledge as the language of communication has gone back to Voice and Pictorial in form of Smileys and other emotive stickers.

I have seen the workers in our boutique, those who never knew to read and write. They would communicate with us when we were far off also so beautifully, thanks to Whatsapp.

They would send us Voice messages on Whatsapp and also pictures of designs.

They were comfortable with Internet banking system of payment and had embraced technology and felt empowered by it.

They learnt new techniques using YouTube.

When such is the case, why are we torturing our kids to study in the age-old methodology?!
