Being parented

Some wanted to know what is the meaning of “not growing the child”.

I have mentioned in one of my previous posts that every child is a gift, wrapped up with layers of wrapping paper. The difference between a man made gift and the divine’s gift is -> Divine gift will unwrap itself. All we need to do is observe it unwrap.

As we observe, the child will grow into an adolescent and youth. And as they grow we are also made aware of their purpose in this world.

As parents, our job is not to ensure that they fail but rather give them freedom to grow and gather life experiences. We need to be there to pick them up when they cannot get up by themselves I.e. allow them to try to get up by themselves as much as possible.

The above gives powerful life experiences. Good thing about learning in childhood is that the damage is easily reversible which is not so easy once they grow up to be adults.

My parents and me

I am now writing this series of “My parents and me”. In this I will share how they parented me. Hope it will help you all as parents.

Many ask me “Nalini how do you manage so much variety of activities” To this my answer is -> The key is in how I was allowed to grow from a child to a youth and then an adult

My mother did not grow me. She just watched me grow. She told me a lot of stories which had moral values and appealed to day to day life. My response to those stories were -> I built my boundaries within which I had to live...

My father loved my mother very much and respected her too.

Both of them did not treat me as a daughter but as their child.

All this impacted me. More in the next series

What is meditation

Since I often quote introspection and meditation as the tools that I use frequently, people said I know how to use the tool introspection but what about meditation. Is it useful for day to day living or only for spirituality ?

So I thought I would write this blog

All of us know about prayers so let me connect meditation with prayer first.

Prayer is ‘us’ talking to the Divine and meditation is ‘us’ listening to the Divine’s voice

All of us are accustomed to the inner voice which is constantly playing within us.

When we are disturbed, the inner voice is very turbulent and following it creates a lot of discord. That inner voice is the voice of what we often call as Evil or Negativity within us.

That is why it is important not to react when the mind is turbulent. The Tamil Aathichudi also says that.

Better to wait for mind to become calm. The inner voice heard when the mind is calm is the voice of Divinity or Positivity within us

If you wish to get into this, start by being aware of yourself. You can start by bringing awareness to your breathing to understand the state of mind.

If your breath is smooth that implies mind is calm.

Strive for that.

May the divine world be with you.

Is it Online Teaching or Online Telling

Teaching is a very rewarding experience. That is why very few teachers shift their profession... whereas individuals of other professions such as Software professionals, quit their jobs and try to become teachers. Even though it is not so lucrative financially.

Joy of seeing the child who has understood the concept and works with the concept is immeasurable

But today many experienced teachers are also not able to teach effectively since Online is a new paradigm

The teaching process has become that of “Telling” instead of “Teaching”

Dear Teachers, try Flip Classroom. It is very effective in today’s situation

We at MyOpenSkool.in are coming up with an Online solution -> ‘Zero budget teaching’.

Power of silence

To know oneself is the highest and toughest learning. Once we reach that level, we become aware of our reactions and thus empowered to act rather than react.

That is what spirituality tries to teach us

For the past few days, I was in silence…the reason -> everyone to whom I spoke to, said MyOpenSkool.in is a wondrous and splendid concept. But no one was ready to buy and apply the concept.

My reason for going behind MyOpenSkool.in is not money. I am software professional. I can earn a lot by Consultancy.

My reason behind pushing MyOpenSkool.in is - replace “Stress” with “Joy” and “Prosperity”

If children are joyous, the families too will be joyous. Joyous families make prosperous societies.

My journey into silence has empowered me with a simplified solution model which is practical and easily adaptable to today’s world

My vision converted into a dream and now it is becoming a reality...

A world where children are in blissful learning and growth with a lot of fun...

We grew up with so much of freedom and fun....this generation children too should receive it...they must not be labelled and drugged with mental illness drugs...

We must enable them to develop their survival instincts...it is their birthright.

Health is Wealth

Earlier days, when my parents were kids, they told me that on the way back home from school, they would climb trees and eat the fruits which were free of chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

Water was pure and so was air.

With the oncoming of Food technology and industrialisation,  Healthy food has become expensive and Unhealthy food cheap

Let us be aware and support the providers of food so that once again Healthy food is available in abundance and hence cheaper

Social question of a child

Every child has the right to expect peace, prosperity, joy and blissful environment to be born and grow.

It is our duty as adults to provide it for them.

I am reminded of the last conversation between me and my best friend’s son. He is no more with us. But his words still ring my ears...

The topic of our discussion was Academics. He is a topper and had scored very well in his boards. But he refused to join the very reputed Engineering or Medical course and instead decided to study B.Com in a very reputed college.

He told me that he was frustrated to study B.Com too. He told me “Aunty these people have created a mess in the society and want us to study the mess and continue that mess. I am not for it aunty.”

I was awe struck when I realised how mature he was. Truly, our Financial system, Housing system, Education system and all the systems badly need repairs

I told him, “Look here Raffid, your parents are rich and so you can afford to be choosy. But not the other children. I have planned a lot of activities like MyOpenSkool.in, AgriSkool, Nature’s Mothers Connect. Can you support me ?"

For which he agreed with a big smile.

Unfortunately, nature plucked him away and now am left alone, living with his voice.

Am sure he is helping me from where ever he is...

Child's health is our wealth

Yes, 'Health is Wealth' is applicable to one and all...then why the title 'Child's health is our wealth'

An adult's body reacts to junk food and we are aware of all the health related facts. But children are mesmerised by advertisements and peer pressure and also their body doesn't rebel like ours

This post is about my experiences with food  and my body. And also as a mother to my two children

Way back 1998, I joined a spiritual course called SSY conducted by RSVK. It is a 14 days course where in we were made aware of our physical and mental body and the spirit within us.

We were asked to experiment our diet by maintaining a raw food vegetarian diet for those 14 days. And we were told to watch our excretions - both urine and stools.

It was an amazing experience

When I became a mother, when my son was around 1.5 years, I taught him to watch his stools and see whether 'it is good or bad' based on the smell and the texture.

If it was good, he could eat a little snacks. If bad, no snacks... only food which will heal him.

When he was around 2, my mother offered him Laddu. It seems he told her that his stools are not good and so will not take. After a few days, he went to her and told her that he wants Laddu as his stools are better.

Yes, it may not work the same way with all children. My second one is different.

But definitely, it will make them conscious and make them take the right decision.

Also, our body gives us signals through our excretions. If we react to its' signals quickly, we can avoid a lot of diseases.

Do try it with yourself and your family.

Parenting today's children

Yesterday I had been to my best friend's Iftar prayer program and was talking to her.

Was seeing the activities in their home...the teenage kids engrossed in Digital world...and far away from their academics and books...many complain that the parents are too lenient on them...

As I was chatting with my friend, I was telling her 'hey you know what, today there is a career in playing Digital games' and she told me 'yeah these kids earn'

I then asked her son 'How much have you earned so far?' To which his reply was Rs 50K.

I asked hin what he did with the money and he told me he Donates...was taken aback...and then my friend told me that they i.e. my friend and her husband have told them strictly that the money earned in Games should not enter the family...

Then I realised that if we handle children with pure and pristine love, the divinity in them glows !!! That child has told me that when I need money for Tribal welfare activities, to let him know and he will earn and give 💕💕
